University of Vermontمعرفی
William Guerin Gray is a Research Professor (Retired) in the Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Gillings School of Global Public Health, and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Vermont's Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. He holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Princeton University (1975–2003). His career includes faculty roles at Princeton and Notre Dame before joining UNC in 2003.
Gray's research focuses on the physics of flow and transport in porous media, with applications to environmental engineering, biomedical systems, and hydrology. He has authored over 140 papers and nine books, and served as editor of two major journals. His work has been recognized by his election to the National Academy of Engineering in 2018, highlighting contributions to modeling porous media systems.
He taught courses in environmental modeling, thermodynamics, and multiphase transport at UNC until 2014. Collaborations with colleagues like Cass Miller expanded his research into biomedical applications such as tumor growth modeling. Gray also holds adjunct roles in UNC’s College of Arts and Sciences (environment and ecology) and maintains international academic ties.
