University of North Carolina at Chapel Hillمعرفی
Dr. Timothy Weigand is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's Gillings School of Global Public Health. His research focuses on developing computational approaches to address environmental challenges, particularly in understanding multi-scale environmental systems. Key areas include computational fluid dynamics, data science, and physics-informed machine learning applied to porous media flow, reverse osmosis membranes, microfluidic diagnostics, and urban wind field prediction.
His work emphasizes mathematical modeling and environmental physics, with applications spanning groundwater systems, membrane technology, and environmental data analysis. Research activities include advancing models like Thermodynamically Constrained Averaging Theory (TCAT) and entropy production methods to enhance accuracy in simulating complex environmental phenomena.
Dr. Weigand’s research trends reflect a strong focus on integrating computational tools with environmental science to solve real-world problems, particularly in water resource management and sustainable technologies. His articles highlight innovations in porous media modeling, non-dilute transport systems, and scalable machine learning approaches.
He is affiliated with the Gillings Innovation Labs and contributes to interdisciplinary research within the Gillings School. Contact him via timothy.weigand@unc.edu for academic collaborations or inquiries.
