Dr. Mike Melville is a Senior Data Science Research Associate at the Eberly Center, Carnegie Mellon University. He collaborates with faculty, graduate students, and post-docs to design and assess teaching and learning research projects, and contributes to campus-wide program evaluation. Previously, he served as Teaching and Learning Research Coordinator at the University of New Hampshire's Center for Excellence and Innovation in Teaching and Learning.
Dr. Melville holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Social Psychology from the University of New Hampshire, and an M.Ed. in Sport and Performance Psychology from Springfield College. His research focuses on leveraging data science to advance understanding of effective teaching practices, with particular attention to methodologies for educational assessment and learning analytics.
His work emphasizes bridging theoretical frameworks from psychology with practical applications in higher education, aiming to improve classroom outcomes through evidence-based strategies. Dr. Melville has extensive experience in program-level assessment and consults on pedagogical innovations that integrate quantitative research methods.
