Mike Connell serves as a Professor in the Department of Political Economy and Commerce at Monmouth College, where he has been a faculty member since 1992. He concurrently holds the role of Faculty Athletic Representative, acting as the liaison between Monmouth faculty and the conference office while actively supporting Fighting Scots athletics through visible engagement at events.
His pedagogical approach emphasizes real-world economic applications, notably analyzing the Wizard of Oz as a subliminal commentary on commerce systems. Research interests span Economics, Commerce, Political Economy, and Economic History, leveraging analogies to demystify complex commercial frameworks for students.
Connell received the Faculty/Staff Support Recognition at the 2019 Fighting Scots’ Awards for his dedicated athletic program advocacy.
Outside academia, he contributes to community welfare as a hospital board member and Healthcare Foundation of Warren and Henderson County participant. An avid golfer and Pepsi memorabilia collector, he previously served as president of the Monmouth Country Club and frequently engages public audiences through speaker circuits.
