معرفی
Dr Mikaela Nordborg is a Swedish-Australian marine ecologist and ecotoxicologist currently serving as a Research Fellow at the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) in Townsville, Australia. Her work focuses on coral reef restoration, particularly the design and testing of technologies for upscaling coral propagation and aquaculture. Nordborg holds a PhD in tropical marine ecotoxicology from James Cook University (2022) and a Master of Science (2016) and Bachelor of Science (2011) from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden.
Education
- PhD, College of Science & Engineering, James Cook University (2022)
- Master of Science in Marine Ecology, University of Gothenburg (2016)
- Bachelor of Science in Marine Science & Zoology, University of Gothenburg (2011)
Research Focus
Nordborg's research bridges ecotoxicology and coral reef conservation. She investigates how environmental stressors—including oil pollution, UV radiation, and climate change—affect coral physiology and reproductive success. Her recent work emphasizes developing scalable solutions for reef restoration, focusing on improving coral propagation techniques to counteract degradation.
Key trends in her publications include:
- Assessing phototoxicity of hydrocarbons and fuels on coral larvae
- Modeling interactions between UV radiation, climate variables, and oil toxicity
- Evaluating sedimentation impacts on coral settlement
- Developing chemical risk assessment frameworks for marine ecosystems
