Miia Sainio is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Education at the University of Jyväskylä, affiliated with the Faculty of Education and Psychology. Her research focuses on antibullying strategies, educational well-being, and personnel collaboration in schools. She teaches special education courses and supervises bachelor’s and master’s theses. Additionally, she serves as a personal study advisor and a student support coordinator (Goodie) for students.
Her research explores factors influencing sustainable anti-bullying practices, staff collaboration dynamics, and well-being frameworks in educational institutions. Key projects include evaluations of bullying prevention programs and analyses of pandemic-era school staff resilience. She is affiliated with the InterLearn research team and the EDUCA Flagship, contributing to interdisciplinary studies on learning dynamics and educational policy.
Her publications emphasize program implementation effectiveness, staff well-being during crises, and child social-emotional development. She collaborates on national initiatives like Finland’s KiVa antibullying program. Current work integrates cross-disciplinary approaches to enhance school-based well-being interventions and organizational resilience.
