Mihaela Lorger is an Associate Professor at the School of Medicine, University of Leeds, and leads the Brain Metastasis Research Group. Her affiliations include the Leeds Institute of Medical Research at St James's, European Association of Neuro-Oncology (EANO), and Breast Cancer Now (BCN) Tissue Access Committee.
Her research focuses on brain metastases, particularly in immunotherapy, gene therapy, and cancer cell dormancy. She uses in vivo models and studies tumour microenvironment interactions.
- Current roles: Chair of EANO Educational Committee, member of BBSRC Pool of Experts, and BCN Tissue Access Committee.
- Previous roles: Member of AWERC (2014–2018), Chair of SBS user group (2017–2021), and Joint Research Tissue Bank Management Committee (2012–2022).
She supervises PhD students Scott Gregory, Yolanda Dyah Kartika, Fiona James, Zarnaz Hadi, Mingcheng Song, and Ailish McCafferty. Her work is funded by grants from the MRC, BBSRC, and Breast Cancer Now.
