Miguel Santin Schulz is a Researcher affiliated with the Theoretical and Empirical Linguistics (TEL) department at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Arts. He holds a PhD in Psycholinguistics (2017-2021) and a Research Master's in Language and Cognition (2015-2017) from the University of Groningen, alongside a BA in Philosophy (2006-2010) from Mexico's National Autonomous University and a Business Management diploma from the Mexico Autonomous Institute of Technology.
His research focuses on event cognition, verb semantics, and linguistic relativity, particularly exploring how language influences the perception and mental representation of change-of-state events across languages like Mandarin, Dutch, English, Greek, and Spanish. He collaborates with institutions such as the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) and leads data science initiatives in the Research Intelligence Services (RISe) unit, specializing in scientometric data analysis.
His work bridges cognitive linguistics and data science, analyzing how language-specific structures shape cognitive processes. Recent studies include cross-linguistic investigations into event segmentation and memory, with findings published in Language, Cognition and Neuroscience and conference proceedings.
Professional roles include Policy Officer in Research Intelligence, where he designs data workflows for institutional research assessments, and academic organizing roles in events like the LOT Summer School and Grote Taaldag.
