Miguel Robles-Durán is an Associate Professor of Urbanism at The New School/Parsons School of Design in New York City, where he directs graduate urban programs. A globally recognized urbanist and theorist, he holds a tenured position and has previously taught at TU Delft Bauwkunst, The Berlage Institute (Netherlands), and Zürich University of the Arts (Switzerland). His work bridges urban political ecology, Marxist political economy, and critical human geography, advocating for urban justice through transdisciplinary collaboration.
Robles-Durán co-founded Cohabitation Strategies (CohStra), a cooperative challenging neoliberal urbanization, and Urban Front, a consultancy supporting progressive governments in advancing the Right to the City. He also co-founded Politics In Motion, an anti-capitalist media platform, and chairs the Shape of Cities to Come Institute. His research focuses on equitable housing, urban policy, public infrastructure, and eco-socialism, with global engagements spanning over 30 countries.
Key outputs include the co-authored/co-edited book Urban Asymmetries: Studies and Projects on Neoliberal Urbanization and an upcoming publication Cohabitation Strategies: Challenging Neoliberal Urbanization Between Crisis (ORO Editions, 2025). He has exhibited at MoMA, MAK Vienna, and Venice Biennale, and teaches courses like Political Ecology and Urban Theory Lab.
