Miguel Moreno Ugeda

Miguel Moreno Ugeda is an Ikerbasque Research Professor affiliated with the Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC) and the Materials Physics Center (CFM-UPV/CSIC). His research focuses on low-temperature scanning tunneling microscopy/spectroscopy of 2D materials and nanostructures. He leads the 2DSPM Group, which investigates collective electronic phenomena in quantum materials synthesized via molecular beam epitaxy and nanofabrication. The group operates advanced equipment including a UHV-300mK-11T STM system.

Notable achievements include securing an ERC Consolidator Grant (2023) and publishing in top journals like Nature Communications and Advanced Materials. His work explores superconductivity, heavy fermionics, and substrate effects in TMD materials. Nobel Laureate Prof. Albert Fert visited their lab in 2020, highlighting international recognition.

Research collaborations span experimental condensed matter physics, with a focus on material synthesis and advanced microscopy techniques. The group’s infrastructure supports ultra-low temperature and high magnetic field measurements down to 30 mK.
