Miguel I. Gómez is the Robert G. Tobin Food Marketing Professor at the Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management, Cornell University. He also serves as Faculty Director of the globally recognized Food Industry Management Program. His affiliations include the Department of Economics and an association with the College of Arts and Sciences.
Education: Ph.D. and M.S. in Applied Economics from the University of Illinois (1999).
Research focuses on two core areas: Food Value Chains Competitiveness & Sustainability (modeling economic, social, and environmental supply chain performance) and Food Markets (analyzing demand response, consumer behavior, buyer-seller negotiations, and retail dynamics). He also explores economic development, environmental economics, and smallholder farmer integration into value chains, particularly in Latin America. His applied research emphasizes fruit/vegetable market opportunities for global stakeholders.
Grants & Funding: Over 100 external grants including National Science Foundation and USDA support. Notable Publications: Works featured in Science, Management Science, American Journal of Agricultural Economics, and Food Policy.
