Dr Miguel Bravo-Haro is a Lecturer in Sustainable Civil Engineering Structures at the Department of Engineering, City St George's, University of London, where he has been serving since January 2023. His work bridges academia and industry, focusing on digitalisation and data-driven solutions for civil infrastructure resilience.
Education:
- PhD in Earthquake Engineering, Imperial College London (2014–2018)
- MSc in Earthquake and Geotechnic Engineering, University of Chile (2010–2013)
- MEng in Civil and Environmental Engineering (Structural Engineering Specialisation), University of Chile (2004–2010)
His research centers on digital infrastructure, structural health monitoring, and earthquake engineering, with applications in offshore renewables and railway systems. He develops sensing technologies, digital twins, and probabilistic models to enhance structural safety and sustainability.
His ongoing projects involve collaborations with academic and industrial partners, focusing on early damage detection, low-cost monitoring in seismic zones, and data-driven assessment of infrastructure integrity.
He previously worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Centre for Smart Infrastructure and Construction (CSIC), University of Cambridge (2020–2022), and continues as a Visiting Researcher there.
Dr Bravo-Haro is fluent in English, Spanish, and Modern Greek, and actively contributes to peer review and technical evaluation in his fields.
