Michiko Minty

Michiko Minty is a prominent researcher in accelerator physics, currently serving as Associate Chair for Accelerators and Applications and head of the Accelerator Division at Brookhaven National Laboratory's Collider Accelerator Department. Her work focuses on the measurement and control of charged particle beams, and she oversees critical facilities like the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC), NASA Space Radiation Laboratory (NSRL), and BNL Isotope Production Facility (BLIP).

Education:

• Bachelor's degrees in Mathematics and German Literature (1986)
• PhD from Indiana University (1991) on polarization preservation using Siberian snakes

Minty has held significant roles at institutions such as Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC) and DESY in Germany, contributing to projects like the Stanford Linear Accelerator, HERA collider, and European XFEL R&D. She is an active educator, teaching at international particle accelerator schools and co-authoring a textbook on charged particle beam measurement.
