Deepa Angal-Kalinin

Deepa Angal-Kalinin is an Honorary Professor and Head of the Science Division at the Accelerator Science and Technology Centre (ASTeC) within the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) at Daresbury Laboratory. With over 35 years of expertise in accelerator physics, her research focuses on designing, commissioning, and operating particle accelerators, particularly for novel applications like high-brightness electron beams. She leads the CLARA facility and the UK XFEL leadership team, collaborating with European XFEL and DESY.

Her work spans contributions to light source projects, collective effects in the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), and the International Linear Collider's global design efforts. Key projects include the CLARA facility for radiotherapy research and beam diagnostics development. She actively engages in advancing medical applications of accelerators and affordable radiation therapy technologies for global health challenges.

Research interests include accelerator beam physics, medical linear accelerator innovation, and facility design for cutting-edge applications. Her leadership in CLARA and XFEL initiatives underscores her role in advancing both fundamental and applied accelerator science.
