Robert Appleby

Robert Appleby is Professor of Accelerator Physics at the University of Manchester and senior scientist at the Cockcroft Institute. His research focuses on theoretical accelerator physics, beam dynamics, and lattice design for projects including the International Linear Collider and Large Hadron Collider. He holds an MPhys from the University of York and a Ph.D. in theoretical particle physics from Manchester.

Research explores particle accelerator physics with emphasis on beam dynamics optimization, collimation systems, and machine-induced background analysis for LHC upgrades. Work integrates theoretical modeling with experimental validation in high-energy physics contexts.

Publications demonstrate consistent focus on terahertz-driven acceleration, cryogenic systems, and energy deposition studies. Recent articles highlight innovations in dielectric-lined waveguides and beam characterization techniques.
