Dr. Michiko Kobayashi is an Associate Professor of Education at Southern Utah University, affiliated with the College of Education and Human Development. She holds a Ph.D. in Instructional Design and Technology from Virginia Tech, an M.S. in Linguistics and ESL from Radford University, and a B.E. in English and Special Education from Saitama University, Japan. Her research focuses on distance education, technology integration, second language acquisition, and multicultural education. She teaches courses in instructional technology, multicultural education, and ESL methodologies. Dr. Kobayashi has been at SUU since 2006, publishing extensively on online learning innovations and cultural consciousness development.
Her educational background includes degrees emphasizing language education and instructional design. Key research contributions include studies on online peer assessment dynamics, student media preferences in digital learning environments, and leveraging Web 2.0 tools to foster cross-cultural understanding among pre-service teachers. She has presented at major conferences like ED-Media World Conference and the Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education.
