Michiel van der Vlist is an Assistant Professor affiliated with UMC Utrecht, focusing on the strategic programs of Infection & Immunity. His research leverages inhibitory receptors to develop novel therapies for inflammatory diseases and cancer. He is associated with the Inhibitory Receptor Lab and contributes to interdisciplinary studies involving bioinformatics, immunology, and virology.
Research Interests: Michiel's work bridges molecular immunology and translational medicine. Key areas include
- Immune inhibitory receptor modulation
- RNA methylation in viral infections
- Monocyte transcriptomics
- Mitochondrial transfer in inflammatory pain resolution
- Computational biology for therapeutic target discovery
Publications: Recent studies span respiratory syncytial virus dynamics, neuro-immune interactions, and the role of type I interferon in receptor signaling. His collaborative approach integrates evolutionary biology, systems immunology, and advanced RNA sequencing techniques.
