Michiel Daams is an Assistant Professor and Theme Director at the Faculty of Spatial Sciences, University of Groningen, Netherlands. His expertise centers on Economic Geography, Regional & Spatial Economics, real estate investments, and land use in cities and regions.
Research highlights include analyzing capital shocks, urban economic divides, and sustainable urbanization. He founded the Lab for Sustainable Urbanization, collaborating with the OECD on remote sensing of urban growth. His work spans the UK and Europe, focusing on productivity and regional divergence.
He teaches in RICS-accredited programs, including Real Estate and Land Supply (2017–Present) and co-developed the 'personal scientific scrapbooks' teaching method, implemented internationally. Supervised 97 thesis projects across undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Scientific awards: Certified in the UTQ-BKO Dutch University Teaching Qualification.
