Michelle Yvonne Simmons

Professor Michelle Simmons is the Director of the ARC Centre of Excellence in Quantum Computation and Communication Technology at the University of New South Wales (UNSW Sydney). Her work focuses on advancing silicon-based quantum computing through atomic precision engineering, including projects on 2-qubit gates and logical qubit architectures.

Professor Simmons received the Esther Hoffman Beller Lectureship (2022) for her contributions to qubit manufacturing. She leads a dedicated team at UNSW, working toward the development of high-fidelity quantum processors and exploring the intersection of quantum materials and computational innovation.
