Michelle Vernon-Way

Michele Vernon-Way is a Senior Lecturer and Course Leader in the School of Sport and Physical Activity at Sheffield Hallam University. She leads the MSc/PGD Advanced Sport Coaching Practice program, designed for Olympic and high-performance coaches, and oversees a team of 25 specialists in coach education and sport science. Her roles include strategic leadership in coach education, including the UK Coaching Framework and UKCC Level 4 Master Coach Programme.

With a BSc (Hons) and PGCHE, her expertise spans talent development, executive coaching, and cross-sport collaboration. She has 20+ years of experience as a Senior Coach Development Manager and strategic lead for national governing bodies (NGBs), advising on Whole Sport Plans and CPD programs for female performance coaches in sports like football, cricket, and rugby.

As an accredited Executive Coach through the European Coach Mentoring Scheme, she mentors Olympic-level coaches and advises NGBs on aligning coaching strategies with national frameworks. Her work emphasizes innovation, tailored solutions, and influencing organizational change across UK sports bodies.
