Michelle Rodino-Colocino

Michelle Rodino-Colocino is an Associate Professor in the Department of Media Studies at The Pennsylvania State University's College of Communications. Her work focuses on critical cultural studies of media, feminist media studies, media and activism, and the intersection of work and new media. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh, a Master's from Northwestern University, and a Bachelor's from UCLA.

Her research explores labor dynamics in media industries, gender-based activism, and the socio-political implications of digital platforms. Notable projects include analyses of gig economy labor practices, #MeToo movement mobilization, and academic labor struggles. She advocates for scholar-activism and has published widely on topics such as precarious work, worker solidarity, and institutional accountability.

Rodino-Colocino’s publications consistently bridge theoretical frameworks with actionable advocacy, addressing issues like sexual harassment prevention, unionization strategies, and the normalization of exploitation in internships. Her writing emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches to social justice, combining feminist theory, communication studies, and critical labor analysis.
