Michelle O'Toole is a Senior Lecturer in Organisation Studies at the University of Edinburgh Business School, where she also serves as Head of the Organisation Studies Group and a member of the School Executive Committee. With prior industry experience in construction, she teaches at undergraduate, postgraduate, and executive levels across the UK, Singapore, and Sri Lanka. Her research focuses on organisational control, identity work, and meaning-making in workplaces.

Her recent research spans platform work identity, student mental health frameworks, hybrid working models, and LGBTQIA+ workplace inclusion.
