Michelle Mendoza is an Associate Professor of Oncological Sciences and Adjunct Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Utah. Her research focuses on ERK signaling, cell migration, and the biomechanics of lung cancer progression.
- B.S., Pennsylvania State University
- Ph.D., University of California, San Diego
Her lab integrates physical science perspectives with experimental and computational techniques to study:
- ERK regulation of actin assembly and myosin activity
- Signal-mechanical interactions in tumor microenvironments
- Molecular mechanisms of cancer invasion
Recent work highlights:
- ERK phosphorylation of the WAVE Regulatory Complex
- Strain amplification in early lung tumors
- NKX2-1/ERK/WNT feedback loops in tumor identity
Collaborations include the Bidone Lab and Weiss Lab in Biomedical Engineering.
