Anne R. Bresnick is a Professor in the Department of Molecular Pharmacology and Department of Biochemistry at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She holds roles including Associate Dean for Postdoctoral Affairs, Director of the Belfer Institute for Advanced Biomedical Studies, and Associate Director of Cancer Research Training and Education at Montefiore Einstein Comprehensive Cancer Center. Her research focuses on mechanisms of cell motility, metastasis, and the regulation of the actin cytoskeleton, particularly involving myosin-II and S100A4 proteins.
Her work employs interdisciplinary approaches combining biochemistry, structural biology, and molecular/cellular techniques in cell cultures and animal models. Key projects include studying phosphorylation-driven myosin-II assembly in cancer metastasis, the role of S100A4 in tumor progression, and developing small-molecule inhibitors targeting S100A4. She has contributed to the development of S100A4 knockout mouse models to investigate metastasis mechanisms.
Publications highlight breakthroughs in understanding S100A4-myosin interactions, myosin regulation in tumor cells, and the design of anti-metastasis drugs. Her research bridges basic science and translational medicine, aiming to identify therapeutic targets for metastatic cancers.
