Dr. Michelle Maugham-Macan is a Lecturer in Biomedical Science at the School of Health, University of the Sunshine Coast, specializing in bone biology and cancer research. She holds a PhD from Queensland University of Technology and dual bachelor's degrees in Biomedical Science and Biotechnology.
Her research examines the impact of childhood conditions and cancer on bone biology, particularly early-onset osteoporosis in Down Syndrome and adipose tissue effects on bone metastases. She actively contributes to the Australian and New Zealand Bone and Mineral Society and Trisomy 21 Research Society.
Her publications focus on bone metastasis mechanisms, exercise interventions for cancer patients, and fracture risks in breast cancer. Research trends indicate strong emphasis on translational oncology and metabolic bone disorders.
