Michelle Katz

Michelle Katz serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Humanities and Sciences school at Art Center College of Design and as an adjunct professor at California College of the Arts (CCA). At ArtCenter, she teaches courses including IP: Law & Business for Artists (HPRO-300/ HBUS-301), Legal & Ethical Business Basics (HBUS-311), and Human Rights Movements in the U.S. (HSOC-331). At CCA, she instructs law for artists/designers and graduate-level Business Law and Negotiations in the MBA program.

Her professional expertise centers on Intellectual Property Law (copyright, trademark, online policies), Contract Law, Licensing, and strategic business negotiations for startups and mature companies. With over two decades in entertainment industry legal roles—including Vice President positions at Universal Studios New Media/Consumer Products Groups and Director of Business and Legal Affairs at Paramount Pictures—she integrates executive-level experience into her pedagogy. Her teaching specifically addresses legal frameworks for creative professionals, emphasizing real-world applications in IP protection and ethical business practices.
