Dr Michelle Clement is a Lecturer at King's College London within the Faculty of Social Science & Public Policy's Strand Group, and serves as a researcher in residence at No.10 Downing Street.
She holds a PhD on 'The Art of Delivery: Sir Michael Barber and the Prime Minister’s Delivery Unit 2001 to 2005'—the first academic study of the PMDU utilizing Barber’s unpublished diaries.
Her research centers on British government mechanics and public service delivery, with expertise spanning:
- Structural evolution of Whitehall institutions since 1945
- Prime Ministerial policy implementation frameworks
- Historical analysis of delivery units and cross-departmental collaboration
- Economic history and institutional memory preservation
Dr Clement co-teaches 'The History of the Prime Minister', 'The Blair Years', and 'The Treasury and Economic History' modules. Her prior roles include policy advising at the British Academy and strategic partnerships coordination at Queen Mary University of London focused on Tech City collaborations.
