Michelle Beattie

Dr. Michelle Beattie is a Senior Lecturer and PGR Co-ordinator at the Centre for Rural Health Sciences, University of the Highlands and Islands. She holds an Honorary contract with NHS Highland and is training as a LEAN leader.

Her research focuses on improvement science and quality of care in health services. She developed the Care Experience Feedback Improvement Tool (CEFIT) and investigates contextual factors affecting intervention effectiveness. Current projects examine care home staff experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic and digital health implementation.

The 15 most recent articles show strong themes in care homes, implementation science, quality improvement, and digital health. Key subfields include pandemic response, psychological support for healthcare workers, patient safety innovations, and contextual effectiveness of interventions.

As Principal Investigator, she has secured £55,807 in grants and £465,090 total funding. She supervises 6 PhD students, chairs the University of Highlands and Islands Research Committee, and has served as external examiner for 4 PhDs.
