Dr. Michelle A. Ritchie is an Assistant Professor and Undergraduate Program Coordinator at the Institute for Disaster Management (IDM) within the University of Georgia's (UGA) College of Public Health. She holds affiliate faculty roles in the Environmental Ethics Certificate Program, Institute for Women’s Studies, and Atmospheric Sciences Program. Her work focuses on modeling social-ecological systems for climate adaptation, emphasizing sense of place, risk perception, and ecosystem services valuation.
Education: Dual-title Ph.D. in Geography and Climate Science from Pennsylvania State University. Prior to UGA, she served as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University's Disaster Management Program, teaching graduate courses on hazard mitigation and socio-cultural emergency management aspects.
