Michele Mortensen

Michele Mortensen is a Lecturer in the Counseling and Human Services department at UCCS College of Education. She joined the university in 2021 with extensive clinical experience since 2006.

Holds a Master's in Clinical Counseling from University of Northern Colorado and Bachelor's in Psychology/Sociology from University of Colorado. Licensed as LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) with additional certifications in addiction treatment (CAT) and equine-assisted mental health (EAMH).

Research interests focus on neuropsychological interventions for traumatic brain injury (TBI), developmental disorders, and crisis support for families. Integrates equine-assisted therapy techniques in clinical practice.

Teaches counseling and psychology courses through both online and campus formats since 2012, emphasizing practical clinical skills development.
