Michele L. Louro is a Professor of History at Salem State University, holding office in Sullivan Building 102G. She specializes in global and international history with a focus on modern South Asia and British imperialism. Her current research project, funded by the U.S. Fulbright Program and the American Institute of Indian Studies, examines the global history of the Red Scare and its colonial applications in India.
Education: Ph.D. from Temple University. Professional roles include Faculty Fellow for Open Education Resources at Salem State, President of the Society for Advancing South Asian History (an AHA affiliate), and former Managing Editor of the Journal of World History (2017-2019). Teaching includes courses on modern world history, South Asia, and the British Empire at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
Her scholarship includes monographs such as Comrades against Imperialism (2018) and co-edited volumes like League against Imperialism (2020). Research interests span anti-imperialist movements, transimperial networks, and the intersection of global and colonial histories.
