Michele LeBlanc is a Professor of Exercise Science and the Nena Amundson Professor of Biomechanics at California Lutheran University, where she serves as Pre-Health Director. Her current research involves biomechanical analysis for the US Men's National Field Hockey team's drag flick technique, building on prior work as biomechanist for US Olympic javelin throwers funded by the United States Olympic Committee for seven years. Previously, she held faculty positions at other institutions and served as a Health Science Specialist in the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Gait Lab at the Greater Los Angeles V.A. Hospital.
Her research integrates biomechanical data collection, mathematical modeling, and computer simulation to investigate patellar tendon mechanics via acoustoelasticity, human and animal bone density measurements, and landing mechanics. This work bridges clinical rehabilitation applications with elite sports performance optimization, reflecting her dual expertise in academic research and practical athletic biomechanics.
Dr. LeBlanc founded and directed Cal Lutheran's Office for Undergraduate Research for four years and served as Project Shepherd for the Swenson Science Center's development, now overseeing Ahmanson Science Center renovations. Her institutional leadership extends to facility planning and undergraduate research infrastructure, supported by sustained funding from national sports organizations.
