Brook G. Masters

Brook G. Masters serves as Senior Adjunct Faculty in Counseling Education at California Lutheran University while concurrently directing the Learning Resource Center and Academic Success Services at California State University, Channel Islands. With over 25 years of experience across secondary and post-secondary education, she champions educational access, achievement, and justice for diverse student populations through strategic program development and inclusive leadership.

Research Focus:

Her work centers on dismantling systemic barriers through initiatives promoting scholarly belonging, academic leadership development, and social inclusion. Ms. Masters integrates cultural humility frameworks to advance equity in teaching practices and institutional policies, with particular emphasis on serving LGBTQIA2S+ communities and underrepresented student groups in higher education settings. Her approach combines program evaluation methodologies with transformative educational theory to cultivate liberatory learning environments.

Professional Leadership:

Prior to her current dual appointments, she held multiple leadership roles at California Lutheran University including Coordinator of the Office of Peer Assisted Learning for the ALLIES in STEM program, Graduate Director of Residence Life, and Student Conduct Officer. Her nine-year tenure as Director of College Counseling and Experiential Learning at Besant Hill School established her expertise in K-12 college access programming. At CSUCI, she oversees comprehensive academic support services that integrate peer mentoring, tutoring, and success coaching to drive holistic student outcomes across the institution.

Community Engagement:

Ms. Masters actively partners with Ventura County LGBTQIA2S+ organizations to develop inclusive community spaces, extending her educational justice commitment beyond campus boundaries through program design focused on youth empowerment and adult allyship development.
