Michele Callisaya is an Associate Professor (Research) at the Peninsula Clinical School, Monash University, and a Principal Research Fellow at the Menzies Institute for Medical Research, University of Tasmania. She has a strong background in physiotherapy and rehabilitation, with over 20 years of clinical and research experience.

Her research centers on falls, frailty, dementia, and stroke, with a focus on understanding the interplay between cognition and physical function, and improving access to rehabilitation for people with cognitive impairment. She is passionate about enhancing the role of physiotherapy in dementia care.
The recent publications highlight a consistent trend in dementia-related rehabilitation, physical activity interventions, and patient experience. Her work spans epidemiological studies, scoping reviews, and qualitative investigations, often employing co-design methodologies and focusing on real-world implementation.

Her grants support innovative work in ageing, rehabilitation access, and stigma reduction in dementia care.
Research Groups and Collaborations: She is affiliated with the ARC Training Centre for Optimal Ageing and collaborates extensively with national and international researchers in gerontology, neurology, and rehabilitation science.
