Michela Tincani

Michela Tincani is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at University College London (UCL) and a Research Fellow at the Institute for Fiscal Studies. Her research focuses on mitigating social inequalities through education policy, examining college access, teacher reforms, peer influences, and social identity dynamics. She integrates randomized trials and economic modeling to evaluate real-world policies and simulate potential interventions.

Education:

• Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania

Research Interests: Michela investigates how education policies can reduce social disparities, including the failure of college access initiatives, the role of teacher reforms in addressing achievement gaps, and the impact of peer networks on learning. Her current work explores how social identity perpetuates educational inequalities.
