Micchela M. Tincani is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at University College London (UCL). She holds affiliations with the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS), CEPR, LEAP, Stone Centre, CEPR, CESifo, and HCEO. Her research focuses on college access, non-financial barriers to education, and peer effects, combining experimental and structural econometric methodologies. She received her PhD in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania (2012) and completed a postdoc at UCL before joining the faculty.
Academically, she is renowned for innovative teaching methods in statistics, such as integrating magician demonstrations to explain p-values and fostering conceptual understanding through interactive activities. This approach earned her the prestigious 2019 Provost’s Education Award, awarded to only 10 faculty members out of ~8,000 at UCL.
