معرفی
Michela Maione is Full Professor of Environmental Chemistry at the University of Urbino Carlo Bo, Department of Pure and Applied Sciences. She maintains a prominent position within the university's research structure as evidenced by her listing among Professori Ordinari (Full Professors) and her active research leadership roles. Her institutional affiliation includes responsibility for long-term measurement programs at the WMO-GAW Global Station at Monte Cimone in Italy, operating within major international networks including the Advanced Global Atmospheric Gases Experiment (AGAGE) and the European Aerosols, Clouds and Trace gases Research Infrastructure Network (ACTRIS).
Professor Maione's research interests focus on atmospheric composition change in relation to air quality and climate change, with particular expertise in short-lived greenhouse gases, their emission quantifications, and impacts. Her work spans environmental chemistry, atmospheric monitoring, and climate science with strong emphasis on international collaboration. She has established significant scientific partnerships with leading academic and research institutions worldwide, contributing to a comprehensive understanding of global atmospheric processes and their policy implications.
Analysis of her recent publications (2021-2023) reveals a strong focus on greenhouse gas emissions monitoring, particularly halocarbons, hydrofluorocarbons, and other compounds regulated under international environmental agreements. Her work frequently addresses the intersection of atmospheric science and policy, including studies on the air quality impacts of the COVID-19 lockdowns and contributions to IPCC guidelines. The research demonstrates sophisticated measurement techniques, international collaboration, and policy-relevant findings spanning climate change, air quality, and environmental health domains.
- Lead Author in the IPCC 2019 Refinement to the 2006 IPCC Guidelines for National GHG Inventories
- Coordinator of the European FP7 Project SEFIRA (Socio-Economic implications For Individual Responses to Air pollution policies in EU+27)
Professor Maione has secured over 3 million Euros in research funding since 2001, primarily from international sources. She teaches courses including Chemistry of the Atmosphere and Climate Risk within the Environmental Geology and Land Management program, and Chemistry for Restoration in the Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage program. Her research infrastructure includes long-term measurement programs at the WMO-GAW Global Station at Monte Cimone, where she monitors gases covered by the Montreal Protocol, non-CO2 GHGs from the Kyoto Protocol, and reactive Volatile Organic Compounds relevant to climate and air quality.
