معرفی
Grant Forster is a Senior Research Fellow at the School of Environmental Sciences, University of East Anglia (UEA), and a staff member of the National Centre for Atmospheric Science (NCAS). He coordinates the Weybourne Atmospheric Observatory on the North Norfolk coast, a WMO Global Atmosphere Watch (GAW) regional station and part of the Integrated Carbon Observation Network (ICOS) since 2016. His career spans NERC and EU-funded projects like RONOCO, MOYA, MAMM, InGOS, and DARE-UK, with expertise in greenhouse gas monitoring, air quality, and atmospheric chemistry.
- Education: PhD in Marine Biogeochemistry (2006), University of Newcastle upon Tyne.
Research Interests: Forster specializes in atmospheric molecular hydrogen, O2/CO2 measurements, and air pollution dynamics. His work supports climate policy through the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and involves setting up atmospheric observation networks in Southeast Asia, focusing on pollution patterns and mitigation strategies. He leads the NCAS Atmospheric Measurement and Observation Facility (AMOF) chemistry working group and contributes to the UK-ICOS steering committee.
Notable Projects: As Principal Investigator on the Defra AURN ozone contract and co-investigator on multiple NERC grants, Forster advances carbon cycle research via projects like OXY-MOBILE and COCO-VOC. His collaborations extend to institutions including Lancaster University, Newton Fund, and FAAM (airborne observations).
Publications & Impact: With over 40 research outputs, Forster's work includes high-precision radon quantification, methanethiol oxidation studies, and ICOS-compliant long-term data reporting. His research is widely cited, with datasets influencing European pesticide policy and climate modeling.
Labs & Teams: Forster operates the Weybourne Atmospheric Observatory, integrating it into global networks (WMO GAW, ICOS), and mentors within UEA's Centre for Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences. He maintains active roles in national (NCAS) and international (WMO, UN SDGs) environmental science initiatives.
