Michel Aberson is a Lecturer and Researcher (MER1) in Ancient History at the Institute of Archaeology and Ancient Sciences, Faculty of Arts, University of Lausanne (UNIL), a position he has held since August 2011. He specializes in Latin epigraphy and Roman numismatics, with broader expertise in the history of archaic Greece, pre- and extra-Roman Italy, Republican Rome, and Roman social institutions.

Michel Aberson studied in Geneva and at the University of Heidelberg and is a member of the Swiss Institute in Rome. Before joining UNIL, he taught Latin and Greek at the Collège de Genève (1982–2011) and was a lecturer in Ancient History at the University of Geneva. He is the author of the published thesis Votive Temples and War Booty in Republican Rome (1994).
