Michaelene “Mikey” Walsh is an Associate Professor of Art at Louisiana State University’s College of Art & Design, specializing in Ceramics. She holds a BFA from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an MFA from Alfred University. Her sculptural ceramic work is exhibited internationally and featured in The Figure in Clay by Lark Books. Walsh has taught at institutions including Massachusetts College of Art, the University of Georgia, and the University of California-Davis, alongside roles at alternative-learning venues like Haystack School of Crafts and Santa Fe Clay.
Her artistic practice bridges poetry and visual art, aiming to evoke emotional resonance through unexpected combinations of ordinary imagery. She explores themes of nostalgia, paradox, and the interplay between sweetness and melancholy in everyday objects.
