Holly Fischer is Assistant Professor of Studio Art at Meredith College, where she teaches ceramics, sculpture, and explores intersections of materiality and gender representation. An alumna of Meredith College (BA) and University of Texas at Austin (MFA), her artistic practice centers on abstracted figurative sculptures that celebrate bodily forms while challenging gendered stereotypes through ceramic and mixed-media works.
Her research investigates femininity dualities and the politics of gaze, utilizing voluptuous forms in white clay to subvert traditional representations. Recent exhibitions include solo shows at Durham Art Guild and City Market Artist Collective, with featured publications in Lark Books' 500 Figures in Clay and 500 Ceramic Sculptures.
Awards recognize both artistic achievement and teaching excellence, including the 2024 Pauline Davis Perry Award. Her studio methodology involves maquette development and precision scaling techniques for large ceramic pieces.
