Dr. Michaela Jackson is an Honorary Principal Research Fellow at RMIT University's School of Media & Communication. She combines her academic role with full-time stakeholder engagement work. Her research focuses on health communication, communication ethics, and controversial communication practices, with notable contributions to public health, marketing communications, and organizational communication. Michaela has held academic positions including Lecturer at RMIT (2018–2022) and Queensland University of Technology (2014–present), and has contributed to committees like the College Human Ethics Network (CHEAN). She actively supervises Higher Degree by Research (HDR) candidates and teaches courses in public relations strategy, issues management, and organizational communication.
Her interdisciplinary work bridges professional and academic domains, addressing complex social issues such as food waste reduction, digital influencer impacts on health behaviors, and AI ethics. She collaborates widely, offering expertise in advisory roles, public speaking, and mentoring. Key research outputs include studies on gamer health behaviors, bushfire evacuation messaging, and the role of packaging in sustainability.
