Dr. Michaela Harrison is a Senior Lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University, primarily affiliated with the School of Education. She has been with the university since 2008, initially contributing to Initial Teacher Education programs and now focusing on master's-level courses. Her teaching emphasizes research methods and methodologies, including leading the module Principles and Practices in Educational Research across education-based master's programs. She also oversees the MA Social Research, accredited by the ESRC’s White Rose Doctoral Training Partnership. Her supervisory work centers on practice-oriented practitioner research, often addressing ways to improve or understand educational practices.
Dr. Harrison holds a professional doctorate from Manchester Met (2014), titled Travelling Through Written Spaces: a nomadic enquiry into the writing of student teachers. Her research explores the interplay between student writing, masters-level study, and professional development. Recent work investigates the embodied dimensions of teaching, analyzing how educators' physical presence and interactions with human/non-human environments shape pedagogical outcomes. Theoretical interests include postfoundational inquiry, material-discursive relations, and new materialism.
