Michael Wimmer

Michael (Mike) Wimmer is a Professor of Illustration at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), serving since 2017 within the School of Visual Arts at the Petree College of Arts and Sciences. Previously, he held roles such as Chair of the School of Visual Arts (2011–2017) and Gallery Director at Oklahoma City University. He is also the owner of Mike Wimmer Inc. (2010–present) and has served as an artist-in-residence at institutions like the Skirvin Hilton Hotel (2016–2017).

Educated at the University of Hartford (M.F.A. in Illustration) and the University of Oklahoma (B.F.A. in Art-Advertising and Design), Wimmer’s work spans academic leadership, fine art exhibitions, and professional creative ventures. His exhibitions include thematic explorations like Cut Me Some Slack (2017) and Muslim American/American Muslim (2015), reflecting engagement with portraiture and cultural narratives.

Active in professional organizations such as The Portrait Society of America and Creative Oklahoma, he advocates for arts education through roles like board membership with A+ Schools. His career integrates teaching, curation, and creative practice, emphasizing visual storytelling and community impact.
