Michael Wiemeler is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Münster, affiliated with the Cluster of Excellence Mathematics Münster (CRC 1442) as an investigator. His research focuses on differential geometry and topology, with a particular emphasis on transformation groups, toric topology, and curvature properties of manifolds. He is a core member of the Geometry: Deformations and Rigidity research initiative.
His research interests include the study of positive/non-negative curvature, equivariant bordism, and the interplay between geometric structures and group actions. Wiemeler has contributed to understanding symmetry properties in manifolds, including torus actions and their implications for curvature constraints.
Recent work highlights include exploring elliptic genera in non-spin manifolds, analyzing moduli spaces of positive scalar curvature metrics, and investigating symmetry-driven geometric phenomena. His publications often bridge differential geometry with algebraic topology, addressing classification problems and geometric rigidity questions.
Wiemeler collaborates with leading institutions and researchers in geometric analysis. He has held roles in organizing international conferences and workshops, and his work frequently appears in top-tier journals such as Journal of the European Mathematical Society and Mathematische Annalen.
