Prof. Dr. Burkhard Wilking is a Professor at the University of Münster’s Mathematical Institute, part of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science. He is an Investigator in Mathematics Münster and a member of the Collaborative Research Centre (CRC) 1442 'Geometry: Deformations and Rigidity', focusing on curvature, symmetry, and geometric evolution equations. His research interests include Ricci flow, group actions on Riemannian manifolds, positive curvature geometry, and singular spaces.
Wilking has held various academic roles, including leadership in the CRC 1442 projects B01 ('Curvature and Symmetry') and B02 ('Geometric evolution equations'). He teaches advanced differential geometry courses and oversees seminars on topics like linear algebra applications and manifold analysis. His work has earned him the Staudt Prize 2022 for contributions to geometry.
Recent publications (2023–2003) explore geometric structures, positive curvature manifolds, and symmetry applications. His research bridges geometric analysis, topology, and algebraic methods, with a focus on resolving conjectures in global differential geometry.
