Michael Ward is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Theology and Religion at the University of Oxford. He holds a doctorate in Divinity from the University of St Andrews (2005) and has served as Chaplain at Peterhouse (Cambridge) and St Peter’s College (Oxford), alongside roles as Senior Research Fellow at Blackfriars Hall (2012–2021). His research focuses on C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien’s theological imagination, Christian apologetics, theodicy, and early church doctrinal disputes.
Notable publications include Planet Narnia: The Seven Heavens in the Imagination of C.S. Lewis (2008), praised as a masterpiece, and The Cambridge Companion to C.S. Lewis (2010). He co-supervises doctoral research on C.S. Lewis and Eschatology, and has examined theses at institutions including King’s College London and Witwatersrand University. His work bridges literary analysis, theology, and apologetics.
Key scholarly contributions include essays on Lewis’s engagement with science, paganism, and tragedy, reflecting his interdisciplinary approach to theological inquiry.
