Michael Villeneuve is an Adjunct Professor at Queen's University, affiliated with the Department of Employment Relations Studies within the Faculty of Arts and Science. He currently serves as Director (Faculty Relations) in the Faculty Office at Queen's. Previously, he worked in the Ontario Public Service (OPS) at Treasury Board Secretariat, leading teams in public sector labour relations and human resources functions.
Education: Master of Industrial Relations and Human Resources (University of Toronto); Bachelor of Arts in Labour Studies (McMaster University); Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (Brock University).
Research and professional interests focus on labour relations, public sector compensation, collective bargaining, grievance management, and human resources consulting. He has extensive experience in union-management relations, contingency planning, and dispute resolution.
Notable recognition includes the 2017 Morley Gunderson Prize, awarded for combining professional excellence with service to the Centre of Industrial Relations and Human Resources at the University of Toronto.
In his current role, he oversees faculty relations at Queen's, building on prior leadership in human resources generalist services, recruitment, and employment transition strategies.
