Michael Swartz

Professor Michael Swartz is a faculty member at the Department of Biostatistics within the UTHealth Houston School of Public Health. His research focuses on developing Bayesian and hierarchical models to analyze multifactorial traits, particularly in identifying genetic, environmental, nutritional, and behavioral factors associated with cancer, birth defects, smoking addiction, health services, and trauma care outcomes.

His methodological expertise spans observational and population-based studies, randomized trials, and case-control studies, with extensive experience in statistical programming using SAS, Stata, R, and WinBUGS. He is affiliated with the Coordinating Center for Clinical Trials and works at the intersection of biostatistics, epidemiology, and public health research.
