Irene Tami-Maury

Irene Tami-Maury is an Assistant Professor (Tenure-Track) at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth Houston) School of Public Health, affiliated with the Department of Epidemiology, Human Genetics and Environmental Sciences. She holds adjunct appointments at the UTHealth SPH Department of Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences, MD Anderson Cancer Center, and UTHealth School of Dentistry. Her work focuses on cancer prevention and control in vulnerable populations and eHealth/mHealth research for healthcare training in underserved regions. She actively involves mentees in her research projects, with many co-authoring scientific publications.

• Research Interests: Cancer Epidemiology, Global Health, Substance Use, Social Determinants of Health, Infectious Disease.
• Projects: SGM Cancer CARE (Sexual and Gender Minority Cancer Curricular Advances), Project STOP (Smoking Cessation Training), Texas Implementation Science Hub to end HIV, Greater Plains Collaborative for patient-centered outcomes research, and SmokefreeSGM (LGBT smoking intervention).
